Mohammed´s presentation: "Discourse of Yemeni TV broadcasters and the Dilemma of Regime Criticism, 2015-2019"
"The discourse of the Yemeni TV broadcasters has been undergoing major changes since the Arab Spring in 2011. However, after the recent civil war, specifically since 2015, this discourse has been diverse and has become a clear reflection of the contexts in which it is produced.
This paper attempts to analyze the Yemeni media discourse by analyzing the titles of the news reports published on YouTube in the playlist of five Yemeni Television channels belonging to five diversified discourses in terms of political, ideological, cultural and social orientation.
The paper adopted Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), using its methodological tools, especially Discourse Framing, and using corpus analysis tools and keywords as key signs through which we can enter the media discourse and thus reveal its social, political and cultural contexts. Moreover, the paper tries to show how television channels can invent their own terminology to guide the public, and how these words can be special brands of these channels to then record their presence in the consciousness of the recipient, as well as how to measure the shift of political positions by measuring the shift in the significance of those words."
