Karin Aggestam is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES). She is  Scientific Coordinator of the Strategic Research Area on the Middle East (MECW), Adjunct Professor at Monash University, Honorary Professor at University of Queensland and Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP). Karin held the Samuel Pufendorf Chair 2016-2020 and was the Director of Peace and Conflict Studies 2006-2015. She was Senior Associate Member at St Antony's College, Oxford University 2001, Head of Staff and Senior Swedish National Representative in the International Observer Mission in Hebron (TIPH) in the West Bank (assignments by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Ministry for Foreign Affairs) 1999-2000.
